Over the winter, St. Emily’s School announced that two mini-libraries would be donated to the school and installed by the Mount Prospect Library Mission.
Students were encouraged to submit works to the library design competition. Two winners were selected, one from kindergarten to third grade and the other from grades 4 to 8. The winners were third year Madison Rosa and sixth year Ashley Laskiewicz.
The winning designs were painted on the bookcases, which were installed outside St. Emily’s School on April 21. Students were on hand to help set up the library boxes. The St. Emily Mini-Libraries are near the east and west corners of the school, 1400 E. Central Rd. in Mount Prospect.
Mini-libraries are free book sharing boxes, where anyone can take or share a book. They are built with the goal of promoting literacy, building community, inspiring readers, and expanding access to books for everyone.
