Vilma G. (Geremia) Testa, 93, of Saunderstown, formerly of Warwick, passed away peacefully from a short illness on Thursday September 15, 2022 surrounded by her family at South County Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony A. Testa. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Emma (Nardolillo) Geremia. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Class of 1951. Vilma was a sister in Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Vilma was a dedicated elementary school teacher at Warwick for over 30 years until her retirement in 1992.
Vilma was a sports enthusiast; she especially enjoyed encouraging her brothers at Providence College. She has been a subscriber for over 35 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed seeing places all over the world and learning about different cultures. Vilma was a loyal member of the Kindred Spirits travel group where she made lifelong memories and friends. She had such a passion for helping people and serving her community. She volunteered at St. Elizabeth’s nursing home in East Greenwich and loved serving coffee and a smile to all the residents. She was dedicated to her faith and loved her family more than anything. Vilma was the ultimate grandmother. She attended every sporting event, graduation, birthday party, and everything in between. She kept her teaching skills fresh after her retirement by helping with homework every night after dinner. Vilma made sure she never missed an episode of her favorite shows. In particular American Idol or Dancing with the Stars, which she watched every evening with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three loving daughters and their spouses: Kathy and the late Robert Christy Jr., Stephanie Testa, and Karen and Jeff Conticello (with whom she has resided for the past nineteen years). Vilma is also survived by her dear brother Louis Geremia, Esq. and his wife Elijah. She was a loving and cherished Nana to Ashley Baumgardner and her husband Greg, Amanda Ucci, Anthony Ucci and Emma Conticello. She also loved her Buster.
Vilma’s family would like to thank the amazing doctors and nurses at South County Hospital who took care of her during her stay.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 9 a.m. at NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory – SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett followed by a Christian burial mass at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church , 275 Tower Hills Road, North Kingstown. Interment will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.
