Along with the state sales tax exemption, the Jacksonville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Back to School Shop and Win contest Friday through August 14.

During the same period, state sales tax will drop from 6.25% to 1.25% for eligible school supplies with a retail value of less than $125, including school uniforms and bags back.

There are two easy steps to follow to be eligible for a draw for one of three room checks worth $100 each. First, spend $20 or more at any local retailer. Second, send a photo of the receipt with name and phone number to [email protected] or drop it off at the chamber offices, 155 W. Morton Ave.

All entries will be entered into the draw sponsored by Brown’s Shoe Fit, Leisure Pool and Cass Communications. Shopping at chamber members is eligible for bonus entry. All retail purchases are eligible for the prize draw.

Winners will be drawn on Facebook Live at noon on August 16.
