MAYVILLE – The additional Chautauqua County mortgage tax will continue.

During the county legislature’s recent meeting, county lawmakers voted in favor of a local law to add an additional 25 cents to every $100 of mortgage on real estate located in Chautauqua County.

During the plenary session of the legislature, no one spoke about the legislation. In previous committee meetings, County Attorney Stephen Abdella said these additional mortgage taxes have been in place for several years. It must be renewed every two to three years.

The local law was adopted unanimously.
