Carlton Independent School District 93 Regular School Board Minutes – Monday, July 18, 2022 Emerson called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. The meeting continued with the Pledge of Allegiance. Members present: Emerson, Gustafson, Karp, Ojibway, with Superintendent Engstrom. Absent members: Hagenah, Szymczak. Gustafson’s MOTION to approve the meeting agenda with an amendment adding 9.1 regarding new business was seconded by Karp.* MOTION carried with an affirmative vote of 4-0. No Carlton HS student presentations were given. Public comments have been given. Presentation by Resident Ed Kavanaugh seeking Board approval to move forward with a community-funded “South Terrace Elementary School Tennis Court Resurfacing” for tennis and pickleball. The council’s consensus was to continue discussions with Mr. Kavanaugh, and possibly the City of Carlton, for resurfacing. Congratulations and congratulations were given. Reports were given by South Terrace Elementary Principal Donita Stepan, Community Education Director Daisy Rose, Business Manager Norman Nelis and Superintendent John Engstrom. MOTION by Ojibway to approve the consent agenda: • Approve June payroll for a total of 392,684 $.55 and summative transfers at $124,608.79. • Approve June funding checks in the amount of $248,491.25. • Approve the minutes of the regular school board meeting of June 20, 2022. MOTION was seconded by Karp.* MOTION passed with an affirmative vote of 4-0. Gustafson’s MOTION to approve the transfer of $202,000 from the committed fund balance (transportation) to the unrestricted fund balance for the 2022-23 school year budget was seconded by Ojibway. MOTION goes 4-0. Gustafson’s MOTION to approve the Carlton/Wrenshall Cooperative Agreement for MSHSLA, including Junior High Athletics and extracurricular activities identified here, May 2022, was seconded by Emerson. MOTION goes 4-0. Karp’s MOTION to approve the 2022-2023 ARCC Specific Services Contract was seconded by Gustafson. MOTION goes 4-0. Gustafson’s MOTION to approve the 2022-2023 Foodservice Consulting Agreement was seconded by Ojibway. MOTION goes 4-0. Gustafson’s MOTION to approve the 2022-2023 Co-curricular and Extracurricular Handbook for Students and Parents was seconded by Ojibway. MOTION goes 4-0. Karp’s MOTION to approve the 2022-2023 Carlton Middle/High School Student Handbook was seconded by Gustafson. MOTION goes 4-0. Ojibway’s MOTION to approve the hiring of Hayley Nelson as a Grade 3 teacher beginning in the 2022-2023 school year was seconded by Gustafson. MOTION goes 4-0. Karp’s MOTION to approve the hiring of Tabitha Kusnierek as Director of Food Services beginning in the 2022-2023 school year was seconded by Emerson. MOTION goes 4-0. Gustafson’s MOTION to approve the hiring of Jessie Graddy as a school patrol counselor beginning in the 2022-2023 school year was seconded by Ojibway. MOTION goes 4-0. MOTION by Karp to approve the following learning camp staff: • Kari Ries as $1000.00 camp coordinator. • Megan McLain as a $500.00 camp teacher. • Dalyce Gustafson as camp teacher at $500.00. • Emily Majewski as camp teacher at $500.00. MOTION was supported by Gustafson. MOTION goes 4-0. Gustafson brought a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:03 p.m. and as there was no further business with a second in Karp, the meeting was adjourned by unanimous vote. presumed.
